Okay, so Friday and today (Saturday).
Yesterday wasn’t too bad, though Raou took off and Pam got to leave a bit early, it wasn’t too bad since Art came in late and was out most of the day. After work, went to mom’s house (got gas beforehand which she yelled at me for, saying I was going to be however_many_minutes late because of it) for dinner. Went to the mall afterwards to get my haircut and lipstick for her, she then went to a department store (i think JC Penny’s) to get a watch battery changed [did you know they charge for that shit? $10...I guess however_much_for_the_battery + time]. After that, came back to her house, and then headed home. Last night wasn’t too exciting to talk about. Usually Friday nights involve fun drunken WoW action, but I knew noone was gonna be on, so I ended up starting something…
I started my ENTIRE SNES COLLECTION RUNDOWN project. I don’t know exactly if that’s what it’s going to be called but it’s a start. The basic idea is to play ever single SNES game I can find a rom for and play it for a bit, review what I’ve played, and make videos about it [in essence, playing ever single snes game]. I got 33 games done yesterday, giving me more than enough footage for at least 2-4 episodes. I don’t want the episodes to be too long, because I want to keep people’s attention, though I want to make them interesting enough that people would want to see the next one. I recorded a sort opening to the first ep (not like an opening for the show, per say, just an opening for the ep. I figure once I get enough episodes done, I can put together some sort of show opening with music and whatnot (and hopefully had a cool, catchy name for the stupid show lol).
Today was so…fucking…hot. It was like 102 degrees when I got into my car and stayed in the 90s until at least 4pm. All the party peoples came between what seemed 12 and 2pm, so I started getting ready to go SOMEWHERE and got the fuck up outta the house. Once out (with my camera equipment in the car), I decided I’d talk a bit to the camera for the first episode (as mentioned above) and maybe head to mom’s (she was suggesting I come over if I had nothing to do – no one to hang with =[ ). When I got there, she made some lunch, we talked about stuff like new movies (Watchmen looks yummy) and Terry. After a bit, we decided to head to BJs and look around. She got a new beach chair and some Gatorade, then I got some cereal and told her I'd go half on bread. She got some pound cake and I saw some delicious coconut shrimp (she said she'd buy it if I bought the pound cake).
We got home, she started making dinner and said we should play UpWords afterwards. After dinner, that's exactly what we did. She kept kept kept kept trying to make suggestions on how to play and just kept talking during my turn, it was driving me crazy, and I'm sure I was taking it too seriously, but at times I couldn't pay attention. I ended up winning with like 520-something points, which she said was up in the top 10 scores of their however_many_years of playing the game. So that was fun. Sometime after that I headed home.
On the way home, I stopped by the video game store (Game Stop? EB Games? I don't know who's who anymore). Place was pretty empty customer wise, 3 employees working seemed nice enough. Picked up Brain Age 2 and My Word Coach for DS and Cranium: Kabooki for the Wii. I didn't read much good for the Cranium for Wii game, but from what was positive about it, it seemed decent enough, and for $15, I couldn't pass it up. I think all those games together came to like $58, which was pretty good. I get home and (after saying goodnight to Diane and Harris), looked for my other DS games (which I don't have too many of - Final Fantasy 3, Animal Crossing, and Warioware). I couldn't find any of them (even though I know I've let Jewel borrow 2/3 of the games) OR my DS charger (which I know I've let her borrow as well). Both Carol and her say they gave them back, but when I ask where they put them, they still can't be found. Ugh, whatever.
So, I played some My Word Coach while having some lasagna. It's really enjoyable. Some of the things they want you to do include putting the missing letter in the box, matching the word to one of two definitions, and making certain words with scrabble type letters that fall into the screen. A while later, I played Brain Age 2. It seems to have more mini games to it, and might be a little more enjoyable (but it's different, word coach is more vocab where as brain age is more math and other random stuff [like piano]). I had fun playing it, both of the actually…good stuff. Tomorrow, we’ll try Cranium for Wii.
I want to start working on the first episode to the new show idea, but I’m so tired. Maybe if I at least get it started, I’ll be able to finish it tomorrow. Even if I don’t start, I think I’ll be able to finish tomorrow, and I need to add the voice over / extra scenes anyway when I can talk louder (too late atm). Maybe I’ll at least take the little bit of video off the camera and audio off the mic and toss them onto the hard drive I’ve been using for the project.
Nothing at all planned for tomorrow, and since I was already up north today with no word from Gavino, I’m sure he’ll call tomorrow asking if I want to hang…but I really don’t think I want to drive up there AGAIN, twice already this weekend…ugh, I don’t know…guess I’ll see…even though he didn’t call Fri night when he said he was going to. Good thing I sound like A LADY.
Night!
Forever Is Never Enough
July 18, 2008
Seems like a long time since my last post. I think I have Wednesday and Thrusday to discuss, and sadly, since I’m at work (even though it’s Friday and during summer hours [time when employees can work an extra hour Mon-Thurs to work only half a day on Fri]), I won’t be able to post lyrics to a song I’m listening to – mainly due to the fact that I have NO music in my damn office.
SO, Wednesday. Let’s see what I can remember. Work was meh, as usual. I think I started checking out E3 stuff, which has been pretty interesting.
Xbox360 will have a new dashboard and some weird new avatars that people can make. I’ve never really been into the whole “make your avatar/mii” thing, so that’s not that impressive. I always just wanted to play the games rather than customize a stupid cartoon too look like me. Some new games were showcased: Fallout 3, Resident Evil 5, Fable 2; They all look yummy.
Nintendo has some cool stuff coming. A new WiiSports game called Resort (with what seems to be a new Wiimote as well, I couldn’t quite tell at work). WiiMusic looks pretty cool. Ooh that reminds me of one of the things I hated about the Xbox keynote: You’re in the Movies? Ugh so stupid looking. Anyway, Nintendo had some interesting looking things, I’ll have to check it out again to see if there was anything else.
Didn’t look at any of the Sony stuff, but I know they’re still talking about LittleBigPlanet or whatever, the game that’s been discussed forever and always.
Wednesday night I mowed the lawn, then, because I knew we weren’t raiding, I played the alli warrior a bit. I got her to level 13 and did more fishing/cooking/mining/blacksmithing stuff.
Thursday was pretty cool. Work went by as usual. Caitlyn, the daughter of one of the vice presidents, decided to vandalize her father’s office with toilet paper and asked for our help (Raou and I). Raou wanted nothing to do w/it, so I said “whatever, I’ll help”. So I sprinked the paper shreddings around the office and was done w/it.
Raiding Thursday night was pretty good. Went into Hyjal, 1 shotted first 3 bosses (1st downing of the 3rd boss). 4th boss was a bit of a problem, but we got him down on the 2nd attempt (destroyed our warrior tank, Supermassive, but Larry [Agatho] tanked it and we did fine). 3 attempts at Archimonde, but stupid people kept dying way too early, I think we only got him to maybe 85%, if that. Got the alli warrior to 15 and went to bed.
Today’s been going well. Blizzard took the NDA (non-disclosure agreement) off of WotLK, so a ton of information has exploded from mmo-champion and wowinsider.com. All of it’s been looking awesome, and beta keys have also been going out. It’s an exciting time, I’ll say that.
That’s about it for the moment. Going to moms for dinner tonight, then gonna get my haircut and head home to WoW it up some more. Don’t know what’s planned for this weekend. I’d like to get out of the house on Saturday because I’d rather not be involved in Jewel’s party. She already had the “family party”, and now she’s having her “kids [16 friends to be exact] party”, so I’d rather not have to deal with any of that. If Gavino doesn’t want to / can’t hang out, I’ll probably just toss my camera stuff in the car and drive around, looking for inspiration.
That’s it for now. I gotta remember to update this at night before bed, make it a bit easier on remembering things and it’ll keep the blog nice, constantly updated, and interesting (at least to me =P).

Night Isn’t Over
July 16, 2008
Okay, I couldn’t keep it to just one post for the start of my blog, so here’s another before I head off for the night.
Raid went well tonight. Was asked to heal on the druid instead of dps on the spriest, but that’s cool. First night in BT for the guild and we 2-shotted Najentus, and 1-shotted Supremus & Shade of Akama. I chock up the 2shot to terrible server problems due to the new patch and whatnot, I think we could have 1shotted him, even w/some of the n00bs.
Luke decided we should roll alli on Carl’s server to fuck w/him when we get to 70. I said it was a great idea, so of course we picked night elf warriors and named ourselves Starsky and Hutch (with ascii for the a and u). Should be fun, if Luke at least decides to keep it up ;p.
So I left off on Sunday? That was a decent day. Involved drinking at home, swimming in the pool, and slip-and-slide action. I played bartender as I mixed up delicious malibu baybreezes for the adults and just pineapple/cranberry juice for the kids. I got BIT the hell up, one on my stomach by a horse fly the size of my FIST (at least that’s what it felt like) and it left this huge red circle that was literally the size of my computer mouse (if it was circular). This other bite, from what I don’t know, left a lump on my shoulder, ugh. Fuck outdoors lol.
Monday at work was meh. Went by quick, not much that I can remember on the interesting side. That night however (last night) was guild meeting and wii hacking fun. Wii hacking went well, got some emulators on there and games working, and it seems that the region free hack may be working, but as Gavino says “looks like someone has a trip to Clinton to make”. Should pick up that $20 Japanese Naruto game for Wii and see if it works
. Played the hell out of Battletoads / Double Dragon, maybe I’ll do a review on it for the blog (gotta love pulling chicks’ hair, kicking them in the ass, and tossing them around like dolls).
Speaking of doing stuff, Gavino and I talked about getting some stuff done, like skits and show related stuff. I suggested we do the contest over at hv20.com, involving a skit between 2 – 6 min, with teh general theme of fire (hot, flames, heat, warmth, etc). Coming up w/ideas is hard ><. We had an idea after drinking though, about doing a comedic commercial parodying the “new, best invention” type commercials, where one item makes doing a menial job so much easier (*black and white with announcer over* “Having trouble making those HORRIBLE eggs?” *woman slamming eggs on the pan, everything going everywhere* *everything goes to color and shows new-fangled item* “Use the Eggalator 6000″ – that type of commercial). Anyway, our parody would be something along the lines of “Tired of all hard WALKING everywhere?” with one of us stumbling and crashing into things because walking now has become impossible to do, in black and white of course. I’m sure we’ll think of something amazing to go with it and finally make another skit.
Another thing we’ve been discussing is our show ideas. One that Gavino seems to like a lot is the Movie Brothers. One brother has it all, money, people, time, experience, and the other has the bare minimum, if even that: poor, lonely, inexperienced. They both had a video production studio together, but due to conflicting ideas, they split and decided to go off on their own. They each make movies together still, but each on their own and mix them up afterwards for a final product. It’s a great idea, we thought of some really funny things to do, and I’m sure after collaberation and more brainstorming, we may make it into an interesting show.
The other show idea I had was a show called Blue Screen of Death (I think the name, if anything, was good for a show for us). The show idea would be two video game loving, wanna be video show making friends who, every episode, come up w/some idea for a show, and each ep would showcase them trying to make that show and maybe what the show would look like if they did a pilot. And if I remember correctly, the ending would involve something that would make the screen end up showing a BSoD: didn’t have to be computer involved, maybe start off like that, with someone spilling something on a computer or bumping into the computer, and evolve into silly things like being slapped in the face causing the BSoD to show and end the episode.
Anyway, some ideas we’ve been tossing around, besides other things. I think the main problem now isn’t just coming up with ideas, it’s more along the lines of actually getting some stuff attempted and filmed. Obviously shows like “Roommates” will take more time due to trying to come up with costumes (this one might be explained in another post), but skits should be easier and not require too much out of pocket expenses and additional preparation time.
I still have the idea of doing reviews on my own to just keep myself busy and try to get my name out there, and of course a personal music video cover of some song that I decide to do…one of the “mouth the lyrics as the camera is dragged around places” type of videos. Might use ppl in it, might not. Hoping I can get to work on it soon, as the idea seems like fun. Starting off w/the camera pointing at me and singing, then the camera being dragged away and pointing to me in another part of the room and then the camera moving to a different part of wherever and me appearing again to continue speaking. It’s sort of a lot of editing and making sure I get the camera in the right places (might be hard alone, but I’ll see what I can do).
Anyway, back to watching this weeks potentially awful mega64 podcast, praying for the day of a season 3 announcement. After that, it’s bedtime. I still have to watch Little Nemo – Adventures In Slumberland, tonight? Nah, tomorrow…gotta be then. Get home after work, mow the front lawn, come in, relax and watch the movie. They want to run ZA tomorrow! I don’t want to run it…I do, but I don’t. The more time I stay away from WoW when I’m not raiding, the better.
Night! =D
Starting over
July 15, 2008
So I’ve decided to finally make a blog again. I figured I could always restart my xanga back up, but why do that when I can start over, fresh and new. I’ve heard good things about wordpress, and I figured for now, I’ll use their .com system and probably one day switch over to my own site, using the software they have over at .org
I’ve been contemplating starting a new blog because I didn’t know what I would write about. But then I realized that I do have lots going on in my head, and what better medium to use than a blog to express what I have going on in there. It will let me write about things that usually I think afterwards “I probably should have written that down”.
So Gavino, his girlfriend April, and I went on an adventure on Saturday. Got there around 1PM, and we decided that we wanted food. I brought over my camera equipment because we wanted to shoot some stuff (more on that later). We went and got some chinese food (I may upload some of the audio from that) at a buffet, then decided to go up to Digial Press (www.digitpress.com) in Clifton.
It was their first time there (I was there a month earlier meeting the Angry Video Game Nerd) and I think they had a great time. I picked up a copy of Cooking Mama for Jewel’s bday on Monday (July 14th – ended up giving it to her the next day, Sunday) and a copy of the Retroware TV (www.retrowaretv.com) season 1 dvd (which I had no idea what it was at the time). They had some other stuff there for the DS that I’ve had my eye on, which I’ll probably be purchasing soon:
- My Word Coach
- My French Coach
- Brain Age 2
Gavino and April got a copy of Chu Chu Rocket I believe, while I played some arcade games. We were there quite a while, checked out all the store had to offer (which was nice, seeing as I didn’t get much time to check it out when James Rofle was there). We finally left and needed someplace else to go.
Once the TomTom was synched up, we plotted in some Kinokuniya/Mitsuwa Marketplace action into it and saw it was only like 25 minutes away. “Fuck, lets do it” I excalimed, and we were on our way. It really was pretty close, and I wish I had the camera out to get the nice waterfront view on the way there and when we left at night (it’s so awesome looking, I’ll get it one day). Speaking of camera, I think all I really got that day was some car stuff, some mall stuff (which we went to after the chinese buffet, come to think of it), and some of the creepy cemetary way up past exit 150 on the parkway.
So at Mitsuwa Marketplace, we went into Mars (the cool toy place there). I got the other gift for Jewel, a charm with the Maneki Neko (good luck cat [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maneki_Neko]) and a smaller cat inside of it. I didn’t get to see what G&A got, but I’m sure it was cool. Then we went into Mitsuwa and bought up some delicious goodies. I got a big can of Asahi beer (he hadn’t had or seen them before), some Creme Sake (to go with the “lets try this stuff!” Sparkling Sake they got), some candies, and other stuffs. They didn’t have the awesome car air freshener jelly thing I had bought last time, but it was still a good trip. This random guy needed my lug-nut wrench cause he had a flat (in the parking lot), so we sifted through my horribly messy trunk and go it for him.
When we got back to their apartment, we tried both flavors of sake (the cream flavored one wasn’t too great, but the sparkling one wasn’t bad) and had some other drinks while watching the strange dvd I bought (it wasn’t terrible, just informational instead of entertaining).
Wow, I realize now that I have way more to talk about than I thought. I’m gonna save stuff like: What happened Sunday (nothing interesting, just more to write about), video ideas we need to do, other fun stuff to blog about (like tonight’s raid and WoW in general). So, I guess it was a good idea I started up a blog again. It’ll give me something to do when I’m sitting around doing nothing (like days at work that seem to drag on forever, like today; like days I’m sitting at home after work or on the weekends wondering what to do; etc).
I hope you enjoyed my first entry as much as I enjoyed writing it.
